Dave yaeger

Vocals, Guitar, Djembe Drum

Dave Yaeger has been singing songs on the south shore of Massachusetts since 1999. He makes his home in Plymouth, and he can be found strumming and singing well loved classic rock covers as a solo act, or providing a percussive backbeat and harmonizing with the David James Duo.

The Yaeger household in Saugerties, NY was full of music when Dave was growing up. His Mom played the organ, and through his three older brothers the sounds of the saxophone, electric and acoustic guitars, and harmonica filled the house. One of his earliest memories is dancing in the living room while the Telefunken stereo was delivering Wipeout from the vinyl to the eardrums.

He got his start playing the drum kit, performing covers (heavily influenced by The Band) with the Strange Faces from the mid eighties to the mid nineties. During that time he picked up the acoustic guitar and started strumming Bob Dylan and Neil Young tunes. It wasn’t until his mid- twenties, when living in the Boston area, that he dug into singing, even fronting the Dave Yaeger band, which played in the Cambridge/Somerville area for a brief stint.

In 1999 he joined up with Jim Schulze and formed the David James Duo which has been a steady presence from Cape Cod up to Boston ever since. His latest project, Tupelo Honey, builds on the tight harmonies he and Jim have developed, adding Louise Adams on top of the vocal mix. In Tupelo Honey, Dave’s guitar and djembe rhythms have formed a call and response partnership with the energetic and tasty mandolin picking of Jim Gordon.

Jim and Dave started playing together with the idea that they would continue as long as it was fun, and it just gets better all the time!
